How to Remove Negative Reviews on Google

Negative reviews on Google are a problem many local business owners face. Want to know how to remove your negative reviews? This tutorial will show you how to minimize bad reviews as well as how to gain positive reviews from your happy customers.

Key takeaways:

  • Customers are expecting a good experience when they’re paying for your product or service. You must go above and beyond to exceed their expectations – this will encourage them to leave a positive review.
  • You cannot get rid of a bad review. You can make the bad review obsolete and you can change the reviewer’s opinion.
  • Gaining more positive reviews on Google will push the bad reviews down and make them harder to find.
  • Offer your customers a discount or other promotion for leaving you an online review. Advertise this discount on the back of your business cards along with instructions of how to leave a review. Or collect your clients’ names and email addresses and send them an email including the coupon and instructions on how to leave a review.
  • Become familiar with review sites and the process of leaving a review in order to better instruct others how to do it.

      Dennis,
There is a way to make the link to your Google Places page shorter so you can direct customers to your Google page to leave a review without giving them the long URL that you see when you look at your Google Places page. Where you would normally type in your http://www then a website, type in “goo.gl” this will take you to Google’s URL shortener. Go to your Places page and copy the long URL it gives you. Then paste the URL in the box and select “shorten URL.” It will give you a short URL that looks something like this http://goo.gl/TfvR5. This is the short link you can give to your customers to direct them to your Place page. **However** make sure you test this first. I’ve done a few tests on it and sometimes it takes you to the Place page and sometimes it seems to be malfunctioning and taking you to the search results where your Place page appears. Try it and let me know how it works for you. If it doesn’t work, I’ll come up with another option for you. Thanks for reading/commenting!

That’s pretty funny in the video where you say many of your customers think there is a conspiracy online. We also have the same thing, where clients would rather believe competitors are leaving bad reviews vs. it actually being their fault as a business owner.

I know that competitors also do this, but more times than not, it’s legitimate bad reviews. Good stuff Jeremy
